A Pleo Review

Want to buy Pleo? Read this Pleo review to see what it's all about.

Introduction of Pleo

The idea of Pleo was dreamt up Caleb Chung, who was also responsible for creating Furby, a robotic furry toy from 1998. Pleo is manufactured by a company called Ugobe.

Pleo Details
Pleo is a copy of a week-old Camarasaurus. It works on artificial intelligence and optical, audio, and touch sensors to learn from its surroundings As each Pleo learns, it turns unique from its knowledge and takes on its personality. It works on a battery that needs 4 hours to charge and can last for an hour before having to recharge. You can upgrade Pleo through SD cards or a USB connection on a computer, implying home users have an option of making changes at home. It costs $349 in the US, and £299 in the UK.

Dealing With Pleo

The engineers at Ugobe have give Pleo 3 different life stages.

Stage 1 - Pleo is just "born", once you switch him on for the first time after the first entire charge. For 5-10 minutes he gradually adjusts to the environment.

Stage 2 - For the remaining first battery charge, Pleo acts as a "hatchling". He will emote hunger and can take a short nap. He also begins make different noises, experimenting with different sounds.

Stage 3 - After the second battery charge, Pleo acts as a "juvenile", the ultimate stage. Here he can learn tricks and develop a inimitable personality.

Review of Pleo
Pleo is highly interactive robotic pet. It reacts to touch and voice, emotes happiness, sadness, and fear. Pleo can learn tricks to show off, and is upgradeable through SD cards or USB connections. The battery charge needs 4 hours and lasts for 1 hour.

Advantages

Highly interactive

Can be taught behaviors and tricks

Can ape senses of touch, sight, hearing, and taste

Updates transmitted through SD or USB connections

Drawbacks

Battery charge needs 4 hours for an entire recharge

Full battery has a life of 1 hour

Higher costs can be prohibitive for some

Pleo, without doubt is a nice dinosaur. But there are some expenses in terms of time and money. But those who think positives are more than negatives, Pleo is an excellent robot pet.
