Aging Hair or Hair Miniaturization Treatment for Men and Women

Men and women of all ages suffer from hair problems like hair loss, premature graying and baldness. Hair miniaturization is also a common problem affecting both the sexes where the hair follicle becomes smaller and thinner over a period of time as we grow old. Heredity also plays a major role in this problem. This gives the hair an unhealthy and thin appearance. At times, they may lose their colour, with the follicle becoming dormant permanently.

But there is no need to worry. The best method to solve this problem is to control your habits and environment. Keep your hair away from the pollutants present in the environment, eat healthy diet, drink plenty of water and do not get stressed. However, these methods will not work if you have genetic and hormonal tendencies to this problem. Then you need to go for a medical solution to this problem. Here we provide some options to treat this problem.

For men: The first medication shown to grow back lost human hair was approved by the US FDA in 1988. The drug called Minoxidil has been shown to slow or stop hair loss. Besides, in certain cases, it has led to regrowth of hair on the top of the head. But for effectiveness, use it daily. Men can use the 5% solution.

Propecia, a prescription tablet from Merck, was approved by FDA in 1997. It treats male pattern hair loss and should be taken once a day. It is taken by over a million Americans to halt the formation of the hormone called DHT, which is the main culprit in the male pattern baldness. It has proved effective in 83% men, who reported the slowing of the hair thinning and has increased the number of hair in 66% of men. But it will not work on men who are totally bald due to their hair follicles being beyond recovery. But with men having early thinning at the back or on top of the head will derive some benefit as long as they are on medication.

For women: The milder version of Minoxidil 2% solution is the only treatment that is okayed by FDA is available.

These treatments are meant for people who want to retain their remaining hair and experience a small re-growth. But for those who cannot bear the thought of losing their shiny mane, but want to bring back their lost hairline and bring back the major portion of lost hair, hair transplant is the only solution. It allows natural, nearly untraceable restoration of hairline and along with the FDA authorized non-surgical treatments will aid in reversing the problem. But always discuss this problem with the experts before starting any treatment.
