Applying a Baby Sunscreen
Applying a baby sunscreen
or any sunscreen on your child is very essential if they are outdoors. It is recommended that children especially those below 6 months remain out of the sun under all circumstances. But this is not practically possible, most of the times due to various reasons. If you do take your child outdoor in the sun, it is mandatory you keep them completely dressed and put sunscreen on the exposed parts.
You can either use a
baby sunscreen
or an adult one. There is hardly any difference between them. As a baby has very sensitive skin, start by applying a little lotion to the lower side of the forearm to look out for any reactions before applying it on the whole body. Do this process even for a baby or toddler type.
After you have decided, it is alright, apply thickly and evenly on each open part of the body. Be thorough in ensuring you have applied some on their ears, nose, neck and shoulders and legs and arms. Always cover your child’s head with hat if out in the shade and feed them lots of liquids. Water is the best choice.
Normally
sunscreens
are available in SPF 15+, 30+, 40+ and 50+. They include even those meant for babies. However there is been no major evidence to state you actually have to use more than 30+ but if you are more comfortable by using the higher levels then go ahead.
We should all be aware of the importance of sun protection. You as an adult and parent should also cover up and apply sunscreen. You are your child's role model, so this makes it very important you set a good example. As your child grows up, they should
apply a sun protective lotion
daily while going to school or playing. This is more important during summers. You and your children should inculcate this habit.
Baby sunscreen
is available both in shops and online at highly reasonable prices. However remember, buying just a single lotion for the entire family simplifies the matters.
