Baby Sunscreen

Using any type of sunscreen either a baby sunscreen or adult one is very essential if they are outdoors. It is recommended that children especially below 6 months remain out of the sun at any costs. However there may be cases where it is difficult to do this due to many inexplicable reasons. If that happens, clothe your baby fully and apply sunscreen to the exposed areas.

There is not a big difference between a baby sunscreen or an adult one. Although as baby’s skin is usually sensitive, always apply little lotion to the under side of the forearm to observe any reactions, prior to applying all over. Do this even for a baby or toddler sunscreen.

After you have decided it is fine, apply it thickly and evenly over every exposed part of the body. Be thorough in ensuring you have applied some on their ears, nose, neck and shoulders and legs and arms. Always cover your child’s head with a hat if not in the shade and make them drink liquids. Always feed them water.

Usually the sunscreens are available in SPF 15+, 30+, 40+ and 50+, including the ones exclusively meant for babies. There is no evidence to support the usage of sunscreen over 30+. But if you have no issues, you can go for higher levels.

Everyone should be aware of using sun protection. As an adult and parent, you should also use sunscreen, as you a role model for your child. This means you play an important role in setting a good example to your child. Your child should apply a sun protective lotion daily while going to school or playing. This is more important during the warm weather. Make this a habit not only in your child’s life but also yours.

You can buy baby sunscreen both in shops and online at highly reasonable prices. However remember that buying one lotion to suit all to make things simpler.
