Acne can infect many parts of your body. Back is one area which can be infected by acne. When this happens, it is called bacne or back acne. Sweat is an excretory product containing toxins, dirt and other material that can irritate acne. This gives rise to bacne. They affect the back and at times even the buttocks. Heredity is one of the primary causes of bacne. This makes the treatment far harder as the skin on the back is tougher. Hence you need an aggressive treatment for bacne. Use cleaners containing salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide if you suffer from mild bacne or have an occasional outbreak of acne.

Over active sebaceous glands is another reason for bacne. They become more active during puberty to continuously produce and oily product called sebum. Usually, it is released through skin pores. But when the sebum is produced in large amount, it becomes very difficult to secrete, thus blocking the openings of the pores. This halts the removal of dead cells along with the oil. Repeated accumulation of the cells and oil can harbour infectious bacteria. These bacteria can infect the neighboring area causing inflammation.

External factors like heavy backpacks or tight clothes can irritate the skin, thus leading to acne. Internal factors like hormonal imbalance and problems in excreting wastes and toxins from the body can also cause acne. But the factors like food, excess production of oil or sweat or stress that give rise to facial acne do not play any role in bacne.

If mild, you can treat bacne by using over the counter drugs or homeopathic medicines. However, if the form is more severe, you need the treatment from medical experts, dermatologists and skin experts.
