Becoming a Vegan

-
A vegan is a person who shies away from using any type of animal product. Based on one's degree of commitment this means avoiding certain medicines as they have been tested on animals for safety. A Vegan does not purchase or use animal products such as a steak, an egg, bread along with milk or leather shoes. The basic aim of becoming a vegan is to minimize animal suffering, environmental damage, hunger in the poorer world and various health hazards. This is the next step after vegetarianism for people worried of either or all of these issues.

Why do people prefer to turn Vegan?
Animal Welfare – In spite of the widely held belief that drinking milk or eating eggs does not harm the animals in any way, commercially raised cows and chickens, whether factory-farmed or 'free range,' are killed once they do not yield sufficient produce. Besides they are kept in awful conditions. While the actual definition of what is called as an animal product is not distinct; The Vegan Society and most vegans incorporate insect products like honey too.

The environment - Animal agriculture has destroyed the environment of the earth. It is an incompetent method of producing food, because animal feed utilizes land, water, fertilizer, and other resources that would other wise have been used to produce food for man.

Health – Eating animal fats and proteins has been associated with heart disease, colon and lung cancer, osteoporosis, diabetes, kidney disease, hypertension, obesity, and various other degenerative diseases. . Cows' milk has perfect quantity of fat and protein for young calves, but quite a lot for humans. But research carried out on vegans worldwide shows a diverse plant-based diet improves health and wellness and yields various positive health benefits. It offers protection against major killers like heart disease and cancer.

Reducing the intake of animal products is helpful for the environment and your conscience. Animal agriculture is responsible for causing large amounts of air and water pollution, and is responsible for 80% of the world's yearly deforestation. It also needs excessive quantities of water, and the worldwide consumption of livestock is 50% of the world's total grain harvest.
