	Botox Injection for Anti aging

It’s no more a big news to find out that some celebrity or otherwise underwent a Botox treatment. For those who are unaware of what Botox is, read on. Botox or in other words, Botulin toxin type A is a toxin to paralyse a particular area or muscle of your body. It has other subtypes which are under various trade names in different parts of the world such as Myobloc or Neurobloc etc.

Starting from the 50’s, Botulin toxin type A has been experimented with and it was only in 1989 when Allergan Inc., a U.S. pharmaceutical company, got the approval from FDA and named their drug Botox. For their cosmetic product, they got the approval only in 2002 after its use in cosmetics was discovered.

The botulin toxin is a nerve impulse blocker. Produced by bacteria, it is used for therapeutic as well as cosmetic purposes. Since its action is not irreversible, it needs to be injected into the site at regular intervals. This treatment can therefore run into a lot of expenses. In order to avoid spending a lot of money, people resort to botox parties, which is nothing but a social gathering where few ampoules of botox are shared between many people. But with this, people consume alcohol as well, thereby defeating the whole purpose. Those undergoing this therapy are supposed to lie still for sometime after the toxin has been injected, failing which, the toxin spreads elsewhere and complications like drooping lids occur.

The other therapeutic uses of botox are to reduce excess sweating in the underarms, disorders involving the muscles, spasticity etc. Obesity is another condition for which it is being used. One of the main cosmetic uses, however, is to reduce the wrinkles on the person’s forehead, the glabellar lines.

To undergo botox treatment, you must ensure that the clinic is a reputed one. Also, make sure your doctor monitors you after injecting the drug incase there is any after effect of the toxin. And remember; do not indulge in botox parties, as it can be dangerous for your health.
