Building Muscles Past 40
If you have crossed 40 and have little or no workout experience do not be disheartened. You are not over the hill. Do not swallow this excuse. There have been many people who started exercising or entered hardcore bodybuilding in their 40's, 50's, or 60s. don’t forget, you still have the same muscles within your body that were present in your teens and 20's.
So how do you build muscle after 40? The secret is to do the same thing that you would have done if you were yet in your 20's. You perform heavy, partial reps to failure or near failure. You do short, heavy workouts. You allow each body part a lot of time to rest before training it again. Ensure you eat a healthy diet of protein, carbohydrates, and fat. Read other articles that give clear details about how to carry out your workouts. Remember it is essential to retain stress on your muscles but not on your joints, particularly as you grow old. Hence it is advisable to do partial reps because partial reps will not stress your joints. Also, doing partial reps lets you handle more weight and using more weight you gain more shape, size, and strength. This is the secret of making progress in 40s.
Lastly, ensure to make the most progress possible, it is important to eat lots of healthy foods daily.
