Care for dry skin

-
People all over the world face the problem of dry skin. Dryness of skin is usually due to genetic factors, rough weather or excessive use of cosmetics and soaps.

If the condition of the skin is very bad because of psoriasis or eczema a physician should be consulted. If dryness is due to harsh weather conditions one should do away with a heating system and depend on a humidifier. Too much sweat and uncomfortable clothing can cause itching.

Drinking at least two quarts of water per day works wonders for dry skin and there is no danger of dehydration. Foods containing vitamins A and B also help immensely. The skin gets deprived of natural oils if you bathe with either too hot or too cold water. Constant uses of chemical soaps also have a detrimental effect on the skin. In such conditions oil based soaps are better than water based ones. Perfumed cleansers are too harsh for the skin.

The skin should be wiped gently with a towel as this helps to keep the skin moist. Moisturizers help to deal with the problem of dryness of skin and moisturizing sunscreens shield the skin from the direct rays of the sun.

Body oils can be massaged into the skin to make up for lack of it and also to make the skin appear younger.
