Chardonnay the exquisite white wine
-
The famous
white wine Chardonnay
is made from the chardonnay grapes. The chardonnay grapes are unique for their myriad flavors and styles and this precisely why it is found in Europe as well as the rest of the world. Despite it’s fatigue, it will find favor for years to come owing to it’s rich flavors.
This wine was originally popular in
Burgundy and Champagne
in France before it’s popularity soon spread like wild fire. The French and American Chardonnay are a force to reckon with as regards complex whites. White Burgundy, another much sought after wine is dependent on the chardonnay grape for it’s distinct flavor.
The green and thin-skinned chardonnay grape is in reality a cross between Pinot and the Croatian Gouais Blanc grape. Chardonnay grapes undergo fermentation and are kept to mature in oak barrels which bring out the best in them and give the Chardonnay wine it’s distinct vanilla flavor.
Chardonnay wine is best relished with chicken dishes, sea food and dishes containing an abundance of butter and cheese. If it is processed without oak the result will be a soft wine exuding mineral flavors. It is best matured with oak as it then exudes succulent flavors like caramel, vanilla and butter.
The chardonnay grape is also associated with champagne and other exquisite wines. This grape is so popular that its cultivation area is about 140000 hectares worldwide, mainly in Australia, Italy, France and America. Chardonnay wine has dominated the world market and wine connoisseurs will settle for nothing less.
