Sleep is the key to good health. Different people need different amounts of sleep. Scientists believe that sleep is the body’s restorative process. It rejuvenates the body and the brain for their future functioning. Being deprived of sleep can seriously affect your health. Stress, Alzheimer’s, drinking are some of the major reasons for the lack of sleep. An improper mattress is another big reason. Your sleeping place as well as the mattress should be right for you.

There have been many theories floated to explain why we need sleep. Even our ancestors believed that when we slept, we were nearly dead as our souls roamed around and there was no control over our mind. To make this statement true, sleeping on a good quality mattress meant it was time to make this statement of our ancestors true.

Your sleeping pattern will change as you grow old. A 70 year old will need only about six hours of sleep while infants can sleep for about 16 hours in a day. Lack of sleep can affect your daily activities and make things extremely difficult for you. Sleep deprivation affects your reading ability, performance of your daily activities, concentration and cognitive and reasoning faculties. Your skills of perception and repetition concerning your vision also suffer. Driving or working in an industrial unit when tired has led to accidents. About 5 to 56% of all the road accidents have been caused by tiredness due to lack of sleep.

Besides, sleep deprivation has led to weight gain in the people. It is one of the primary causes of diabetes. Students have found their studies suffering due to lack of sleep. Your brain functioning and memory are also affected. Hence ensure you get a good night’s sleep.
