Dish Network or DirecTV

Dish Network and DirecTV are the satellite TV service providers to millions of homes across the USA. Their subscribers are increasing daily, while those of cable TV service are reducing. This is due to the lower charges levied by these providers for more entertainment. They give you a service that is value for your money.

Dish Network and DirecTV have managed to capture the cable TV market because of the steep charges of the cable companies. Since 1998, the rates of cable TV have gone up by as much as 40%, while Dish Network and DirecTV have raised their charges by only 8%.

The rates vary from area to area and from cable company to another. But you can expect to pay around $40 per month for basic cable service (about 64 channels), along with additional $10 per month for digital programming in place of analogue. If you need the service for more than one TV, you have to pay a fee each month for every extra box installed. There is also an installation charge. So you end up paying about $70 per month for 64 channels of basic analogue service to 3 TVs. But Dish Network and DirecTV charge you only $51 per month for over 210 all-digital channels, that includes locals and 60 channels of SIRIUS radio.

Dish Network and DirecTV offers you free gear as well as professional installation for maximum of 4 rooms. This includes the satellite dish(es) required for receiving the signal and the receivers for every room where the TV is located. Dish Network offers you a free dual-room DVR receiver that lets you watch 2 different TV programs in 2 different rooms while recording each program separately. They also provide you a free Dish TV High Definition receiver. DirecTV offers you free upgrades of DVR and HD once you use the $100 mail-in rebate and have bought a specific level of service.

Dish Network and DirecTV use the same business model. They offer free equipment and the installation and earn money by selling the programming packages. The equipment and installation offered by both of them are of superior quality and there is hardly any difference between them in terms of value, dependability, and simplicity of service. The difference lies in the programming packages that they offer. These packages have made the consumers choose one over the other, depending on the features that they want.

Dish Network programs let you keep your costs to the minimum as far as possible, if you are just looking for extra benefits of the satellite not offered by cable. These benefits are: 100% digital programming, better picture, plenty more channels, free dual-room DVR receiver, free HD receiver, and the total monthly cost slightly below the cable.

DirecTV programs charge you more than the Dish Network. Its basic package offers 155 channels instead of 80 channels, thus increasing your entry costs into satellite TV. But in turn you get more in terms of extra sports and special programming channels, not included in the Dish Network.
