Effects of Cell Phone Radiation

Wireless devices like cell phones, microwaves and cordless phones are ruling our lives. They are very convenient and time-saving devices. But what you have not bargained for is the massive amounts of radiation emitted by these devices. Some studies published by Environmental Health Perspectives have revealed the excessive use of these devices may cause senility or brain cancer.

Leif Salford, a lead researcher at Lund University tested the presence of albumin in the blood present in the brain and concluded that our intake of the radiation emitted by the cell phone is very high. Some other studies have tried to focus on the relationship between the heat generated by the cell phones and the brain cancer, but were inconclusive.

But now the World Health Organization has initiated the research on the effects of cell radiation on the brain. They have concluded that the radiation emitted by cell phone affects the brain. This effect is not only seen at high exposure but even a minimal amount of exposure is enough to cause the damage. Being exposed to the cell phone radiation for a long time affects the replication of DNA when the cell divides, thus aggravating the risk of cancer.

Though the results are still inconclusive and research is still going on, doctors recommend the following three steps as preventive measures:

· Open your antenna wide while talking.
· Place the antenna away from the ear as much as you can.
· Make use of speakers whenever you can.
