Emo Hairstyles

Emo, or the emotional punk movement, has its own attitude, fashion and values as well as emo hairstyles. The emos do not adhere to the mainstream and follow the latest fashion trends. Hence emo has given rise to its own fashion, and emo haircuts are typical with jet black hair, uneven styles and bold highlights. Being emo implies retaining your own unique identity even in the crowds and emo haircuts are usually created by friends instead of the hairdressers. You can even create your own emo hairstyles with a pair of scissors, dye and a razor.

Emo hairstyles suit practically anything, as long as it is not very showy. Nearly all emo women dye their hair jet black. Many emo men have jet black hair, but it is not standard. You do not have to be worried about the natural appearance of the dye job as most of the emo hairstyles are usually dyed. You can do the edges with frosted highlights, purple or blue, but ensure those colors are visible through the black dye.

Emo hairstyles do not need to be carried out by a professional stylist, and you can use an ordinary pair of scissors or a pair of shears instead of scissors meant for cutting hair. Don't be perturbed if the hair is uneven. The more uneven the cut, the better. Many emo hairstyles have a patch of triangular hair encircling the face or lopsided hair. Though people wonder how some emo hairstyles let their wearers see anything, most emos can see very clearly.

You can shave all your hair from back and keep hair only on the top or on the sides. Some can also cut their hair on the sides. Use electric shears to get army "buzz" cuts involved in these emo hairstyles. Though a lot of hair is shaved off, you will still have an ornate black tousle covering the front of the eyes.

Emo hairstyles are certainly shaggy, and at times spiky, so using scultping gel will be beneficial to you. Find the best gel in the market especially if you want a spiky look. Just make the hair spiky or shaggy when wet by applying a gel through your hair and creating the bold look. Dry your hair, apply more gel and spray till the spikes stiffen completely. Avoid brushing. Emo hairstyles are not meant to faint in the heat, so do not be perturbed about suffering from a stiff head of hair after all the excess spray, which can be shampooed later.

To produce emo haircuts, you don’t have to spend on costly hair equipment like curling irons or flat irons, but you can try out various types of gels and sprays. The best type of gels makes the hair really stiff and spiky. If you are dissatisfied with your haircut, you can trim it yourself with an ordinary pair of scissors. Although at times, it is good to let somebody else style your hair, as we cannot get a good idea about how our hair looks from behind. As emo hairstyles are normally asymmetrical, don’t worry if the cut is uneven or crooked.

If your hair is long or medium in length, go for an uneven look by keeping one side shorter than the other, or tying up a part of your hair leaving the other part down. For extra shine, use a special spray and go for highlights in case of layers. Though shorter emo hairstyles are more normal than long, you can still look a total emo with long hair.
