Food is the basic necessity of humankind, and hence has been studied a lot, since times immemorial. We need food for survival and protection. The Stone Age people collected berries and hunted animals in the areas where they stayed. This provided them with the natural sources of minerals, vitamins, fats and proteins etc., essential for their survival and health.

Today, the things have changed dramatically and this has impacted our food choices. Sadly, the changes in our food have not been for the better from the point of view of nutrition. Pollution, unchecked industrial growth and modification of genes have destroyed the natural constituents of our food.

But science has determined that we really require various vitamins and minerals, present in the food. This information was not known to our ancestors in the Stone Age. This makes us more aware of what we eat and what we don’t.

Throughout the late 90s and 200X, people have come to understand the benefits of a healthy diet on the human body. Unfortunately, we have found this information because of host of diseases caused by bad nutritional diets that are a result of various factors.

One factor is the rapid spurt in the fast food industry that took place because of scientific breakthroughs achieved in producing cheaper food. This has led to humans switching over to these foods, in order to save the costs and eat more of them till it is impossible to eat any more. But this is an unhealthy choice and has caused big spurt in obesity and various lifestyle diseases.

But the good thing is, you don’t have to exert a lot of effort to eat healthy. Simply focus more on what you are putting in your mouth. Most fast food is unhealthy and if you are seriously busy or don’t really want to know how to take care of your body, then switch over to the shortest path and stay away from junk food.

Visit the grocery store and buy lots vegetables, fruits and low fat meat. This information is common knowledge, but many people don’t adhere to this suggestion. If you are one of them, take a nutritional supplement. There are various products sold in the market (few being superior to others), but irrespective of your choice, any one is better than eating the fast food.

Don’t forget, you will have only one body throughout your life and it is irreplaceable. Hence it makes sense to keep it clean and healthy, instead of stuffing it with junk and then falling prey to various diseases.
