Fish Oil for Acne and Weight Loss
One of the important nutrients needed for good health is
omega-3 fatty acids and fish oil supplements
are a rich source of this nutrient. Omega-3 has been shown to improve or alleviate many conditions. But now researchers are trying to prove that acne as well as weight loss can be treated by taking this omega-3 supplements.
There has been no conclusive evidence to prove this link but the scientists are just talking hypotheses here. The two reasons for them to assume that the acne can be treated by fish oil are the suggestion offered by the naturopaths that the deficiency of fatty acid can result in acne. Besides acne is the result of or aggravated by inflammation and fish oil has anti-inflammatory properties. Since pimple is the inflammation caused by bacteria, taking fish oil can help reduce the inflammation and lessen the severity of the pimples.
Though there is no scientific evidence to support the theory that fish oil can treat acne, taking the supplement will not hurt you and enjoy the other benefits of fish oil.
Again, the relationship between weight loss and fish oil has not yet been validated. These supplements have been shown to boost energy levels and enhance the health of heart and brain. Hence nutritionists have advised people to take these supplements since increased energy levels means more activity and hence more loss of weight.
Many reputed dieticians have recommended the use of fish oil supplement as a method of weight loss. But scientists have not been able to prove conclusively that fish oil helps in weight loss. However, research has proved that fish oil supplement benefits the heart and brain. It has been shown to cure mild depression and elevate your spirits. Hence take the supplements without worrying about whether omega-3 fatty acids will treat acne and weight loss or not.
