Five Tips For Parents to help children with homework
Homework
form the essential part of your child’s school routine. Developing the love for the homework will inculcate the love for studies in your child. Here we present some tips on how to make the
homework
more pleasurable for your child:
·
Take Break:
As your child spends his entire day in the rigid school environment, let him relax once he comes home. Allow him to enjoy the activities that he loves like reading books, playing with his friends or watch television. This will refresh his mind and make him enjoy his homework.
·
Be comfortable:
Let your child study in the manner that he loves. Do not pressurize him to study at the desk or table or switch off the television or music system. If he can complete his studies by lying in front of the television or while listening to the walkman, let him be.
·
Allocate Time for Homework:
If you force your child to spend the entire day in studying, it will certainly put him off. Schedule his time so that he can devote time for other activities like playing, attending hobby classes and spending quality time with you. The rule is increase the homework time by 10 minutes as your child’s grade goes higher.
·
Make them Independent:
If your child is excited about homework, encourage his enthusiasm. Do not interfere even if you know he is making mistakes in his assignment. Help him only if he asks for it. But if your child has homework but cannot get started, you can help him getting started. Let him select the time and place for his studies.
·
Do not Punish:
Do not hit out at your child. Instead motivate his positively by creating a reward system. Your child may be neglecting his homework if he considers it a waste of time, very easy or very difficult work, problems at school or with the teacher or other children. Find out the reason and tackle the issue constructively.
Following these tips properly will ensure your child will love his school days.
