Gas Powered RC Cars

There are two types of RC cars: electricity powered cars and gas powered cars. Electricity is cheaper but gas makes it seem real. Gas powered RC cars are faster, are more authentic and provide you the thrill of the race that the electric-powered ones don’t. But you should understand that gas powered RC cars, do not mean gasoline cars.

Gas powered RC cars use a combination of fuel called nitro to power them. These cars resemble miniature automobiles as they move on the tracks at great speeds. These cars have engines that need proper tuning and emit loud sound like that of a big car. Their sound increases with the increase in speed. Speed is not the only thing that attracts people to these cars. When these cars zoom around at the speed of light, they leave vapor trails of exhaust behind them. Electrically powered RC cars fail to give this experience.

Besides excellent sounds and sights, there are various other differences. The gas powered RC cars seem realistic due to the presence of an internal combustion engine. The fuel used is a mixture of nitro methane and lubricating oil to protect the engine. The actual car’s spark plugs are replaced by a glow plug in gas powered RC cars.

This plug is heated by battery powered starter that constantly burns the fuel, letting gas powered RC cars to race for more time than the electric ones. The only time they can fail is when the glow plug blows off. This factor is difficult to determine and hence it makes sense to have a couple of backups when using a gas powered RC car.

For beginners to the world of gas powered RC cars, it is advisable to go for an entry-level car instead of advanced model. These models are fitted with pull-starters instead of electric starters. If you get a model that comes without starter, you should buy a starter. You can select between an electric starter box and a 12V starter with a car adaptor.

Gas powered RC cars raise the excitement of RC car racing to higher level. The sounds, the sights and the smells emitted by gas powered RC cars are far more authentic than those of the electric cars. Hence it makes sense to go for only gas powered RC cars.
