But these figures are not final. Your body and your daily activity levels will determine the amount of sleep you need. While some can function normally with less than 5 hours of sleep, others need at least 10 hours to feel rested. But the best way is to listen to your body as it will inform you when you need to sleep and it is best to listen to it for good health.

Our waking time does not necessarily determine how sleepy we feel. Circadian rhythms are the forces that decide our sleeping and waking habits. For a person who has a normal eight hour sleeping routine, when has to work at night might suddenly find himself feeling sleepy at one in the morning as his sleeping pattern has been disturbed. It is usually difficult and after a long time that he can alter these circadian rhythms to keep him awake at these new schedules. With will and stimulants like caffeine, you can change your sleeping habits to a small extent, ultimately; it is our body’s internal clock that decides when we need some sleep.
