Health Benefits Of Almonds
 
 

An almond nut is actually the seed of the fruit of the almond tree. It is off white in colour and has oval shape. Then there is a thin brownish skin, followed by the hard shell. There are 2 varieties of almond: sweet and bitter almond.

Sweet almond is normally eaten.
Bitter almonds give almond oil that is used in making the liqueur Amaretto.

Almonds are considered to be natives of western Asia and North Africa. They have been consumed since ancient Greek and Roman times. Today they are grown in the Mediterranean countries and also in Spain, Italy, Portugal, Morocco and California.

Almonds are full of protein and can prevent diseases like gallstones, type 1 diabetes, colon cancer, heart disease, high blood pressure, atherosclerosis, cholesterol and help weight loss. They provide manganese, copper and vitamin B2 that are effective in combating free radicals that harm to the body as well as generate more
oxygen-based energy production to secrete the antioxidant molecule, glutathione.

The flavonoids present in the skin of the almonds and the vitamin E, make this nut a very powerful antioxidant food (provided it is consumed with the skin).

      I have heard that people soak almonds at night and remove the skin of the almond and eat them in the morning, they say its very much beneficial

       
      Is there any difference between soaking almond in water for 30 min and then we can have the almond by removing the cover OR we can just eat the almond without soaking in water.
