How to Bargain – Tips to get a good deal

Bargaining is a skill that you learn. However if you won’t ask, you won’t receive. You can get a little discount on the purchase price of the items, even in malls, though smaller shops offer you better bargains.

Instruction Difficulty: Simple

Step 1: Always ask for a rebate while shopping. You will be surprised at the wonderful deals you can get after asking. However don’t ask for absurdly low price. At the register, always inquire from the desk clerk if you have not received any coupons. You are most likely to get some coupons. But when traveling abroad, opt for gentle bargain.

Step 2: Try to talk the store manager, if the clerk is not authorized to accede to your request. While talking to the manager, open the talk by informing the manager about the help provided by the manager, the wonderful shopping experience etc. It is bound to help you get what you desire.

Step 3: Check for likely defects in the merchandise. You can use these defects to bargain for lower price. At times, you may even end up getting 25% off.

Step 4: Be ready to walk away. While it is difficult, if you are not ready to leave, don’t waste time attempting to drive a hard bargain. This is mainly useful while looking to buy a car. Most of the time, the salesman will trail you accompanied by a worried manager as you leave the shop. In case they don’t, it was not the suitable choice for you.

Step 5: Find out if the shop can match its rival’s price. In today’s world, it will do so in order to keep you as a client.

Step 6: Once you achieve your bargain, accept it gracefully. Avoid walking away once you obtain your bargain, since it is rude. Moreover inform the manager that you’ll suggest the shop to your friends. Give a smile and thanks.

Hints & Warnings

Don't be rude at the time of bargaining. Add some humor and you will be surprised at how much you are given.

For expensive items, visit the store only after researching the price of item online at other stores. However you may want to buy from a store near your home for ease and the store may give you the same deal that you got online.
