How to Clean Smelly Dogs
Each
dog owner
has his own particular home remedy to clean a smelly dog. These include tomato juice, baking soda, tomato juice blended with baking soda, dish detergent added to baking soda, Guinness beer, vinegar, etc. Others use the most popular pet store shampoo. However it doesn’t help.
Your dog stinks because he has rolled in the dirt, his poop or mud. You cannot do much about it, as dogs are generally playful by nature. So the only option available is to rinse the dog. Here is the most effective method to rinse the foul smell and refresh the hair coat.
There is an exotic but not so popular strong
d'Limonene cleaning product known as "That Orange Stuff"
. It is more powerful than most commercial pet shampoos and home remedies. Besides cleaning and refreshing, it also detangles and stops matting. Moreover it is safe, simple to use and is low cost. "That Orange Stuff" is unadulterated and strong, hence should be tempered with water, ideally in a spray bottle. When the dog starts smelling, wash it with a solution containing ½ oz. product for each quart of water. The cost per quart comes out to be 22 cents, which is much lower than the cost of a pet shampoo.
To prepare the solution, simply add around ½ ounce (1 capful) of "That Orange Stuff" to a 1 quart spray bottle, fill up with water and stir till it becomes milky. Spray straight away on the foul, dirty part of the coat till it becomes wet, spray the remaining of the dog's coat, rub the cleaner into the dirty regions to loosen rubbish, rub it through the remainder of the coat for many minutes, wash away totally by using lukewarm or cool water, dry the dog by using clean towels, and then brush the coat to a good shine. If required, use a cleaning comb or brush on badly dirtied parts when washing. Safeguard the dog's eyes at the time of spraying to prevent it from entering their eyes. Also remember that the diluted cleaning solution won’t foam up like shampoos. If you prefer suds, then you can shampoo the dog as is done normally once the cleaning is done.
Note, "That Orange Stuff" is not a a pet shampoo and doesn’t make any such claims. It is a strong d'Limonene all purpose cleaner, and is branded as harmless for humans, animals and earth. It is a remedy that you can use at your own risk. Except if your dog is sensitive to oranges, it is a harmless option to the chemicals, colors and other dodgy additives present in most shampoos.
'That Orange Stuff' is not available in any pet stores but online at numerous estores. You can google 'That Orange Stuff'. Browse through these stores and choose the one giving you the best deal on that day. Besides cleaning your og, you can use it for various other cleaning purposes.
