How to Get rid of Mosquitoes Naturally

Many of us are proud of our gardens. Yet as evening approaches, sitting in the garden amidst the flowering plants can be quite a torture considering the huge number of mosquitoes that begin to bite a person at that time. In order to avoid such a situation in the future, here are some tips, which will at least reduce the number of mosquitoes thriving in your garden thereby saving you the trouble of worrying about many of the diseases which are spread by mosquito bites.

First and foremost, eradicating the source or the origin of these insects is very important. Mosquitoes breed in stagnant water and if you have a fountain or a small pond in your garden, you can be quite sure of finding mosquito larvae there. To avoid that, keep some fishes or frogs in such pool of water and watch the mosquito population decrease. Even birds can make a difference in the number of mosquitoes.

Another effective method is to plant flowering plants such as marigold, rosemary, citronella grass and catnip. These plants, especially marigold is quite easy to maintain and very effective in keeping the mosquito population in check. To top it all, they also add to the show of your garden.

Garlic is not only an effective way to ward off vampires but also mosquitoes. You can spray garlic throughout your garden which will definitely help in reducing the number of mosquitoes. However, if you want to reduce wastage to the maximum, you can plant garlic instead of spraying the same in your garden. That ways, once you have scared the mosquitoes for a sufficient time, you can uproot the garlic and utilize them too.

With such natural methods of controlling mosquitoes coming up with every passing day, people also have resorted to using less and less of chemical insecticides and preferring biological insecticides.
