How to Reduce Stress

Is stress affecting your performance? Are your relationships down in dumps due to stress? Yes, it is a fact that stress has an adverse effect on our life. However the reason for stress need not be the actual event that brought on stress in the first place. Actually you can increase your tolerance to stress and decrease your tolerance in various ways.

Scientific studies have shown that stress causes an imbalance in neurotransmitters, which are the chemicals in the brain that control all metabolic function.

Anti-depressants use this concept to generate a fixed neurotransmitter production rate. But you don’t have to take addictive pills to handle stress.

Neurotransmitters can be imbalanced by eating an unhealthy diet and by indulging in wrong emotions. Feelings like anxiety, fear, anger, and worry will have an effect on your neurotransmitter production and make you more prone to getting stressed out. Higher stress levels exert more pressure on your heart and other internal organs, thereby causing various diseases.

The most powerful way to balance neurotransmitter production is to get up between 3-6 a.m. to exercise, do yoga, or meditation. In between these hours, the brain switches from being regulated by the neurotransmitter melatonin that affects sleeping patterns to nor ephedrine, serotonin, and dopamine, that affects all body functions. Getting up correctly will lower your daily stress greatly.

Another method to lower stress is by eating properly. Don’t eat spicy, bitter, and astringent foods. Don’t eat meals when stressed, angry, or anxious (avoid nervous eating) and avoid late night foods. Also take the correct amount of nutrition. The appropriate amount of vitamins and minerals is essential for the brain to synthesize neurotransmitter production.
