How to Whiten your Skin

Many people are worried about skin damage that occurs due to excess exposure to sunlight while others aim to regain their original skin tone. Here are some means of lightening your skin.

Skin whitening

Skin whitening is a method where the dark skin gets the light look. Though there are many methods of skin whitening, it is primarily done via the method of exfoliation by eliminating the dead skin at the outermost layer of the skin and forming a new layer.

The agents or chemicals used in skin whitening generally functions in two manners. In one these skin whiteners take in the UV rays that cause darkening of your skin. Other skin whiteners attempt to lower the melanin pigments that darken your skin when present in excess.

There are plenty of skin whiteners available today in the market. These skin whitening products use one or more constituents like kojic acid, ascorbic acid, hydroquinone, etc, which hamper tyrosinase responsible for production of melanin.

Skin bleaching

Skin bleaching is the method to lighten your skin. Light colored skin is selected around the world particularly in India, Africa and Latin America. Light colored skin is regarded  as royal and honorable feature among specific sects of people.

Skin bleaching is far more preferred by women. They spend a lot of money on bleaching products. In many areas of the world the girls are recommended to shun sunlight to retain light colored.

Many of the skin bleaching agents use hydroquinone to avoid the formation of melanin.

Chemical peel

Possibly the most appropriate method of refreshing your skin is via a doctor/dermatologist given chemical peel. They use the bleaching product like hydroquinone but with more potency thus offering better results faster than possible with a whitening cream.

Drawbacks of a chemical peel

    * Prohibitive cost

    * The face may have a reddish hue for up to two weeks after the peel

    * May require more than one peel for the expected results

    * Can dramatically lighten the skin almost overnight making it very clear

Skin bleaching cream

There are lots of skin-bleaching creams available, competing with each other to attract the buyers. Many skin bleaching creams use hydroquinone up to 4% level.

Hydroquinone works miraculously by reducing the effectiveness of the enzyme called tyrisinase, necessary for secretion of melanin pigment. Excess of melanin pigment darkens the skin.

The creams also have ingredients to wet the skin. Other constituents will prevent the skin irritation. The price of the skin bleaching creams lies between 50-60 USA dollars per oz.

Skin whitening cream

There are many kinds of skin whitening creams to select from. These whitening creams are available in different quantities and enticing packing. The cost on an average is about 60 American dollars for an ounce.

Skin whitening creams are suitable for both men and women. These creams don’t itch your skin. These skin whitening creams also don't dry your skin excessively.

Skin whitening creams eliminate the dark circles around the eyes very nicely and rapidly. These creams shield the skin from ultraviolet radiation and lessen the production of melanin pigmentation.

Though there are plenty of over-the-counter products for skin whitening, it is better to choose any product on the advice of your physician. This will prevent any damage to your face.
