How you can Relieve Gas Pain

Almost everyone suffers from gas pain at some point of time. However, those who rely on fibers, milk and milk products and on beans tend to generate more gas. This is not abnormal but if you seem to be having a lot of gas production or if you have that sharp pain which doesn’t relieve at all, you may need to review your diet.

Gas problems can arise from many reasons. Some of them could be suggestive of serious causes. However, most of the time, it is dues to the fact that the person is lactose intolerant. Lactose is a type of sugar, which is present in milk and milk products. If any lactose intolerant person consumes milk or its products, it can lead to increased gas production. Other common causes are intake of too much fiber and beans, which leads to gas generation. Besides these reasons, you may end up ingesting air while eating or drinking fluids. Most of the time, this gas is expelled by belching itself, but sometimes it may continue downwards and cause pain and distension.

Here’s what you can do to reduce, if not eliminate, the problem of gas. Firstly, make a diary of what you eat and when you eat. Mention the days when you seem to suffer from gas more. Correlate and analyze what food could be aggravating this problem. Find out if you are lactose intolerant by avoiding milk and its derivatives completely for few days and see if you feel better. Even sorbitol, a substitute for regular sugar, found in all sugarless foods can cause gas.

There are some commercially available preparations, which help, in easy passage of gas thus reducing your discomfort or by neutralizing the gas generating sugar in fiber and beans. See if any of these works. If not, you may need to reduce your intake of greens, grains and beans in order to feel more comfortable.
