Jawbone 2 Bluetooth Headset Benefits

The new Jawbone 2 Bluetooth headset received the FCC's approval in the April of 2008 and has had good sales. Here is the review of this potent Bluetooth headset.

When Aliph introduced the first Jawbone Bluetooth headset 2 years back, it received the highest rating and became very popular Bluetooth headset due to its wonderful sound quality and attractive design. But its drawbacks were it was heavier than many other headsets and its strange ear hook making it tough to place it properly. Aliph acted on this feedback as the new Aliph Jawbone 2 has taken care of these problems. The Jawbone 2 is nearly 50% smaller than the previous version, having the dimensions of 2 x 0.5 inches and lighter with the weight of 0.35 ounce. Also the Jawbone 2 has a simpler ear hook structure and an attractive look than the previous model. Its noise-canceling technology has been improved from the "Noise Shield" to the "Noise Assassin," which guarantees to be more virulent in eliminating discordant noise. According to Aliph, the "Noise Assassin" technology was been tested by defense and okayed by Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). However the Jawbone 2 is quite expensive and costs $149.99, but for the ultimate experience, it is worth it.

Both the first Jawbone Headset as well as the Jawbone 2 was designed by the noted industrial designer Yves Behar. The Jawbone 2 has a beveled diamond pattern all over the front, giving a three-dimensional texture that moves evenly below our fingers. Initially, the Jawbone 2 may not seem to any buttons at all, but you can feel its controls, though they are invisible. On the front, there is the Talk button, and on top is Aliph's proprietary Noise Assassin button. Above the Talk button, there is a very thin ray of an LED light, which glows bright white once the headset is switched on. You can also switch off the LED light. Although these hidden buttons produce a sleek design, it would have made more sense to unhide Talk button instead of groping for it. Also as the LED light is immediately above the Talk button, it is harder to press the button while seeing the light simultaneously.

Also there is no real volume rocker, the Jawbone 2 is designed to change the volume by default as per to the environment, due to its Noise Assassin technology. If you want to switch off the Noise Assassin, just press the Noise Assassin button. To change the volume physically, the Noise Assassin button also works as a singular volume control, so you have to shift through various volume levels to reach the correct volume.

Turn around the headset and there is a rubber earpiece, an optional ear hook, and a small white rubber nub to work as the Voice Activity Sensor. For the voice-magnification technology to work optimally, wear the headset such that the sensor falls against your cheek, letting it find the vibration of your voice. Unlike the initial Jawbone, the ear hook is entirely optional. As the earpiece fits more safely in the ear, you can opt to wear the headset with or without the ear hooks. As an extra, Aliph offers some different size earpiece covers and different ear hooks for a better fit. The Jawbone 2 is much more comfortable than the initial Jawbone Headset, it is easy to use. Even when wearing them with the ear hooks, you can easily wear your spectacles along with it, as the ear hooks are very flexible and thin.

The most vital reason to buy the Jawbone 2 is due to its wonderful noise-canceling technology. It has a dual microphone that actually lowers the wind noise, it also uses a technology to safeguard your ear against unforeseen loud noises, and finally, the afore mentioned voice-activity sensor and Noise Assassin technology that magnifies your voice and blocks surrounding noise.

The Jawbone 2 offers a guaranteed talk time of 4 hours and a standby time of over eight days! Other wonderful features consist of call waiting support, a low-battery indicator and voice command support.
