Leather Care and Cleaning Tips
Leather
is an excellent product for clothes, shoes or accessories. It is robust and durable too, but you must take good care so as to retain its shine and enchanting look.
The most essential aspect of leather is cleaning it. A wrong type of cleaning solution can totally destroy the leather jacket. Don’t use solvents or abrasives, including the saddle soap or household soaps or cleansers. They can totally clean the material but few of them don’t match with latest water-based leather finishes. They can lead to serious damage to the leather like cracking. Leather is damaged when exposed directly to sun or other heat sources.
Leather care
experts advise dusting leather surfaces gently every week to erase all instances of dirt and soil. It is advisable for you to use apply a leather conditioner or a leather protector once a year.
If you spilled a drink on your leather pants, quickly blot out the wet spots with a soft absorbent cloth. You can get rid of residual stains by wetting the cloth in a mixture of water and a mild, non-detergent soap. Rub it gently since vigorous rubbing can fade the leather's color or leave uneven marks. More importantly, allow the leather to air and dry after cleaning.
To remove ink stains, you can obtain best results by attempting to clean the stain quickly. Keep an ink or stain remover along with a leather cleaning product handy. As always, dab gently. But to remove bubble gum, mildly heat the gum with a hair dryer till it dries. With a clean white cloth, rub the gum on the cloth. Immediately apply grease on any residual marks.
Regularly brush the nubuck or suede shoes, to get rid of topical soil. Blot any spills right away with an absorbent cloth.
