Microsoft Xbox 360 vs. Sony PlayStation 3

The video game industry is witnessing the fierce competition between Microsoft and Sony. You will get many video gaming fans choosing one over the other. The two most fiercely debated products from these companies are the PlayStation and Xbox. If you are puzzled about the differences between the two read on for more information.

Xbox is a year older than its rival PlayStation 3, since Sony spent a year working on this product to increase its competitiveness. PlayStation 3 came with a Cell Broadband Engine that marked its entry in the video gaming world. To determine which is better of the two without playing, requires in-depth computer knowledge. For a layman it means both have multiple processors running simultaneously.

The packages offered by both manufacturers for buyers in retail outlets throughout the country will differ. There is a “core” package and a “premium” package sold with various names in different retail outlets. But what you should remember is that there is a simple system without a hard drive, but with all other features intact. One system comes with 20GB of hard drive and another one with 60GB of hard drive. As of now, Xbox 360 is overall cheaper by $100.

The major difference between PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 is the game discs or using Blu-Ray technology. Blu-Ray technology offers more disc space, thus allowing developers and designers to go deeply and design more advanced game play for every game. Currently only PlayStation 3 offers it at the moment, but pretty soon is expected to be adopted by all the systems in the near future.

Both the manufacturers provide an online gaming service to let gamers to compete with each other throughout the world. Xbox Live is more popular of the two, but charges a monthly subscription to use it. PlayStation 3 is planning to start a huge online community concurrently with the launch of the product. But this service will be free of cost.
