Must Haves To Play Baseball

Baseball is America's hobby. This game needs some elementary equipment that every player should have. Here we explain the basic requirements for playing this game.

Each game involves a baseball bat and a ball. The ball has a cork center tied within string and with a layer of leather, which is finally sewed up. The bat is made from either metal or wood, generally maple or ash. Metal bats cannot be used in professional games, but various minor league and Little League games permit them.

In baseball, the pitcher throws a ball to the person standing at home plate. This person is called the batter, who hits the ball. The bases or plates are designed in a diamond shape at a specific distance from each other. When the ball is hit, the batter runs to every base in order starting from home to first, second, third, and again to home.

All the players on the team should wear a baseball mitt. This prevents the players' hands from being injured by the force of the ball. Catchers use a special mitt with extra padding and a wider span. Some players wear an extra glove below the glove for extra protection.

Batters use batting gloves to grip the bat very tightly and to insulate against the impact of the bat hitting the ball. A batting helmet for batter is necessary to protect against any head injury. Pitches can move at a speed of above 90 miles per hour, making headgear essential. Catchers too use a helmet with a wire cage that comes down above the face to prevent any unforeseen injuries.

All players use a cup to prevent the groin injury while playing. A jockstrap retains the genitals in position within the cup. Pitchers and players on the field cover their heads with a baseball cap. This shades their eyes against the sun and also unites their team colors and uniform designs.

Uniforms should also gel in with the team's color scheme. Teams use 2 different uniforms, one for their home matches and the other for their overseas matches. Belts prevent the pants from slipping while playing. Generally the team has a logo as their mascot that is displayed somewhere on the uniform. Usually the players wear sliding shorts below their uniforms to prevent injury to their legs when a player slips into a base.

The uniform should also include the spiked sneakers. The special modifications to the sole of the sneakers give a good grip to the ground. This can be a blessing when the ground is damp from the rain.

The players can use various other things in the game, but they are not required. Provided all the players adhere to the uniform strictly and the coaches use right equipment, anybody can enjoy the game thoroughly.
