Places to Visit in Florida

There are lots of things to see and do in Florida other than Disney. So ensure you carry your walking shoes, bathing suit and lot of sunscreen.

In Florida, the weather is generally nice but slightly unpredictable. In the summer (June-August) the temperatures remain as high as in 90's with highly unbearable humidity. Things become cooling down in September but slightly. The a/c runs full blast through November every year.

In November and December you can open the windows to enjoy the low 80's to high 70'. January and February are winters months. Sometimes there are highs as low as 50 degrees. Then the temps go up again and spring is wonderful.

Despite the popular perception, don’t swim in the pool unless it is heated during November to April. It is freezing.

Any time of the year, a trip to Florida, will give you a great pleasure. North Florida or Panhandle, contains areas like the state capital of Tallahassee, few of the most gorgeous white sandy beaches on the gulf coast and a dull and dreary 3 hour drive across I-10 to enter the neighboring state.

As you go south, there are places to visit like Jacksonville- home of the Jaguars, Gainesville- home of the Gators or St. Augustine- the oldest city in America.

Central Florida is known for Disney but that is not the only thing there. Go fishing on one of the various lakes, drive through Clearwater Beach or enjoy a Tampa Bay Devil Rays game. East Central Florida has wonderful places like Kennedy Space Center, the Brevard Zoo, or enjoy an airboat ride on the St. Johns River.

South Florida is popular for it's glamour and crime. South Beach is the meeting place for Who’s Who of the world. Miami has cultural life and Naples is the home of the wealthy. Ensure you visit Lake Okeechobee on the way, which has some of the biggest bass.

Lastly, the southern most tip of Florida, is the Paradise. The Florida Keys are one of the most gorgeous places to visit..
