Satellite Phone

There is so much talk of satellite TV but did you know that there even exists a satellite phone, which is a Godsend for secluded areas where conventional mobile phone towers are not present. Mobiles can frustrate you in such areas, with a constant 'no-signal found' message. Whether you are in a desert or lost in the woods, a satellite phone will keep you connected to the outside world. As compared to modern cell phones, they are quite bulky since they have a very receptive antenna to communicate with the satellites, which feed them with information. They establish a link with the satellite whenever you wish to call or receive a call from someone. Satellites phones resemble first generation cell phones. They can be employed anywhere on earth and are not restricted by borders of countries, etc. Even mobile phones have several restrictions and when you move to another country the existing calling plan does not respond and tariffs are different.

In the past, only researchers, scientists and people who would frequent lonely spots made use of them. They were ideal for research teams to maintain communication while in the cold climes of the Arctic or while exploring the depths of the Amazon. With the advent of the information age and as the world around us keeps getting smaller, they are now well within everyone's reach. Very soon, it will be tough to tell the difference between a normal mobile phone and a satellite phone. Many websites offer satellite phone services with various calling plans. The after-sales service too is excellent.
