Should I buy LCD Monitors
LCD monitors
are more preferred when compared to CRT monitors and anyone who is planning to buy a monitor is seriously considering these LCD monitors, if not buying one blindly. LCD stands for Liquid Crystal Display while CRT stands for Cathode Ray Tube.
To begin with,
LCD monitors
have relatively lower Electro Magnetic Radiations as compared to the CRT monitors. Although no documented evidence is available pointing towards harmful effects on humans due to these radiations, in the long run it can not be ruled out. Besides that, LCD monitors have higher clarity as well as brightness and contrast levels. The fact that they are flat screens, they end up saving a lot of space on the desk.
Looking at the negative aspects, LCD monitors have a problem of acquiring dead pixels if an image or screen is kept the same way for some time. Sometimes it can be the manufacturer’s mistake, however, most of the time you’ll have to live with the dead pixels on your screen. If in case you have speakers fixed with your monitor, they may be priced higher. So unless you need those monitors, don’t pay extra for something you don’t really need.
After weighing the pros and cons, if you still want to buy a LCD monitor, then here are few things to keep in mind. Firstly, enquire about the warranty available on the monitor. Ask warranty especially on the backlight, as that is the most important component of the monitor. Look for USB ports on your monitor. This helps during those times when your peripheral can not be connected to the cabinet of the computer. One more thing that you must keep in mind is the aspect ratio that the monitor supports. Ideally, for a computer, is 4:3. Sometimes, a ratio of 5:4 can also be achieved on higher end monitors.
To conclude, just remember your computing needs and accordingly select a monitor. There’s no use you trying to save money and ending up getting a sub-standard monitor. On the same hand, you mustn’t let your spend-thrifty soul get the better of you. Act wisely and I’m sure you’ll not regret it.
