Tips For Children To Recover from Mild Sun Burn
Introduction
You apply SPF 50 sunscreen on your kid, yet he still gets red cheeks and tender shoulders. How do you help ease the burn?
Things Needed
After sun lotion
Moisturizing Soap
Baby Oil
Steps
1.
The best method to treat a mild sun burn is to prevent it. Before venturing out for a day ensure you cover your child thoroughly with SPF 50 sunscreen all over.
2.
If you want to spend a full day in the sun, ensure you put on another coat of sunscreen in the middle of the day. Applying during the lunch time is advisable if you have been in the sun since early morning. Note that even if it states waterproof, it is going to be washed off if you have spent a long time in a chlorinated pool
3.
After coming, ensuring your child has a shower. If you have time and capacity, allow your child to soak or play in a lukewarm bath containing 1-2 caps of baby oil. The oil replenishes the moisture in the skin, and mitigates the effects of the chlorine and chemicals found in the pool water.
4.
After your child has soaked in the sun for at least 20 minutes, wash it off in lukewarm water in order to prevent irritating the sun burn. Wash him gently with a moisturing soap. If possible, don’t use bar soaps, due to their propensity to cause dryness. Dove or Caress liquid soap is better option.
5.
After showering, gently pat dry the child and observe for any serious marks of sun burn. If you have applied the sunscreen properly, the worst damage of sun burn will be little reddening in more obvious skin places, such as the shoulders, cheeks, or chest.
6.
Squeeze a big amount of lotion in your palm, and rub together your hands to remove the coldness from the lotion. Rub it thoroughly on your child’s body.
7.
Choose a lotion that claims Healing - like Johnson's new line – or contains vitamin E and cocoa butter. It is essential to replenish the skin's moisture and minerals to promote healing.
8.
Part of the reason sun burns are painful is the dryness of the sky that tends to pull and break while you move. Soaking the skin in healing or extra moisturing lotion, prevents the skin from pulling and irritating the burn.
9.
Ensure you apply lotion on the face. There is no need to put on a plenty of facial lotion on kids, only a little is enough to get the desired results.
10.
Next day, in the morning see if there is any dry skin, or problems due to halfpint of tender spots in your child. If you observe, simply apply the lotion again and by nighttime, all mild sunburns disappear and there is a happy camper with you.
