Tips To Litter Train A Dog

Litter boxes have been designed to be used by both cats and small dogs. A small dog lives within your house and can dirty it. A litter box is an ideal solution to potty-train your small dog. Follow these tips to get you started.

- Buy a largest cat litter box. Take off the top cover so it becomes easy for your dog to use. Besides, cleaning becomes simple. Smoothen the rough edges by using the sand paper. Dogs tend to excrete more than the cats and also avoid covering their poop with soil, making it easily visible.

- Stop your dog from littering any other portion of your house except the litter box by saying No. But before that you should train him to understand the words and gestures. You can also take him onward to the litter box by repeatedly chanting No.

- Help your dog acclimatize to the litter box. Use praises like “good work” to motivate him to use the litter box. Teach him the simple command like “go to the box” that he will understand. This will help him to understand your point.

- It is important that you keep the box at the same place. Talk to him in soft but confident tone. This will remove the fear they have about you from their mind. They will obey your commands better.

Follow these tips for 8-10 weeks for your dog to get used to the litter box. After that, you need not keep a watch on your dog.
