Tips on Wine

Normal red wine is best when brought to a temperature of 14-18 degrees C just before it is drunk. However the more exquisite red wine should be exposed to room temperature at least a day before opening it. The costlier wines at restaurants should be ordered on the previous day to give them time to process it adequately to the right temperature before you drink it. If planning to drink expensive wine like Opus 1 at a restaurant order it on the previous day as it should be given a chance to breathe. If such provision is not made then you will be forced to drink another wine while you wait for the wine you have ordered, you will end up missing the experience of savoring the one you had initially come for. It is only worth spending so much money on a wine bottle if the correct procedure is followed right from the bottle to the time you drink it in a glass.

Corkscrews are well known over the ages and are a collector’s item. An 18th century corkscrew was auctioned for over 18000 dollars at Christies. The ones that break easily are cheap while the more elegant ones remove the whole cork itself.

Wines are made to breathe to give them a chance of releasing their full potential after being bottled up for so long. Normal wine can be ruined if exposed for long intervals. Wine kept in a bottle to breathe is not as good as wine in a glass as not much air can enter a bottle.
