Tips to Keep Kidney Clean

People usually think that Kidney just acts like a filter for separating the excreta and assist in correct working of a body. It simply regulates the elimination of extra water and waste material from the body. However kidney does not just do this too. It has other roles to play in our body like:

* Produces Vitamin D that is necessary for strengthening our bones.

* Secretes Erithropiotin, a hormone essential for blood formation.

* Secretes Renin, a hormone that monitors the blood Pressure in the body.

* Retains balance between water and salts in a body.

* Eliminates remnants of medicines we take.

These facts show that kidney is one of the vital organs of the body and contributes to overall wellness of the body by carrying out its various functions harmoniously. This makes it vital to take proper care of this essential organ. Any problem in kidney can cause major problems and in certain cases, can result in death.

Unfortunately, other than developed cities and towns, people residing in suburbs and villages around the world are not getting the correct treatment when needed, mostly due the following reasons:-

* The treatment is usually very expensive, putting it beyond the reach of the common people.

* Lack of expertise of Nephrologists in the rural and suburbs to handle the rising instances of Kidney ailments.

* Along with the above reasons, ignorance and carelessness of the patient forces him to hide the disease or continue with proper medication for a long time, thus making the problem untreatable.

There are usually two types of Kidney failure.

a) Sudden or Acute Renal failure that can be treated
b) Chronic failure that takes place over a period of time as improper treatment of one or more related diseases. This can hamper the working of kidneys.

Normal causes of Kidney failure are:-

* Malaria, a common disease caused by mosquito bites can hamper Kidney functioning.

* Any infection.

* Problems caused by dysentery.

* Kidney stone

Cure:-
Sudden or Acute renal failure can at times be treated by right treatment. However the chronic failure rarely responds to the normal treatment and in most cases need a surgery to treat the problem. Based on the amount of damage, type of treatment or surgery is decided. Kidney failure is normally treated by dialysis. Removing one kidney can at times, treats the patient and he can lead a normal existence with the remaining one. But in case both the Kidneys are damaged, the only solution is Kidney transplantation that needs excellent medical care and plenty of money that common people cannot afford.

Precaution is more advisable than Prevention:-

Two important factors that can lead to kidney failure are high blood pressure and diabetes. These two diseases must be carefully controlled to minimize the risk of kidney infection. Vegetarian diet is unbeatable when it comes to preventing diseases. So always eat mainly vegetables and if you are a non-vegetarian, gradually shift over to vegetables. Protein, especially animal protein leads to deposition of calcium, uric acid and oxalates in urine. They, in turn increase the risks of formation of kidney stones. As much as possible, avoid non-vegetarian diet.

Being informed about the factors that cause kidney failure allows you to prevent it. If the diseases that cause kidney problems are detected, get the treatment quickly to reduce the risks of kidney infection. Moreover another important factor to remember is that regular consumption of pain killer and at times without consulting a physician should be avoided since it has a high risk of renal and kidney failure. Drinking lot of water also prevents the disease. How much water you should drink is primarily determined by your structure, the nature of your profession and the climatic condition in which you live. People in tropics require more water to function properly.

Also avoid or minimize consumption of fruits and vegetables with high calcium content for a healthy Kidney.

If you follow the above facts carefully, you can prevent the problem to a great extent.
