Tips to Safeguard Your Skin
Skin is the largest organ of the human body. It is easily affected by change in climate.
Summer and winter have an adverse effect on the skin.
Hence you need to take care of your skin throughout the year to keep yourself looking fresh and young. Here we offer some tips of protecting your skin from both inside and outside.
Internal:
Drink water throughout the day. Aim for at least two liters or 8 glasses of water throughout the day. Increase your water intake in hot weather or if you live in tropics or lead an active life to regulate your body temperature. If you cannot take adequate amount of water, include plenty of fruits, salad and raw vegetables throughout the day. Or add some fruit juices to it to make it tastier.
Go easy on soft drinks, colas, alcohol, tea and coffee. Though they do have water as one of their main ingredients, the other ingredients have the opposite effect. They need water for their metabolism, thus leeching out water from the body causing dehydration.
Your daily skin routine should include cleansing, toning and moisturizing. It is better to start this routine as soon as possible and within a couple of weeks you can see excellent results. Apply sunscreen while going out in the afternoon. The intense UV rays of the sun in the afternoon can burn your skin, thus damaging it. Apply the sunscreen on cloudy days, while swimming and even if you sweat. You should have your sunscreen on even if you are in shade.
Remain indoors between 11am and 3pm to prevent the strongest rays of the sun reaching your skin. Splash water on your face throughout the day to maintain the fresh feeling throughout the day. Wear loose clothes made of cotton or linen to let your perspiration evaporate naturally. Besides they keep you cool throughout the day. Cover your head with a hat to prevent heat from reaching your head. At the end of the day apply after sun cream liberally. Go for the cream containing aloe vera, which has a cooling effect on the skin.
