Produced directly from soy milk, soft tofu has the maximum moisture level amongst all types of tofu. Its texture is similar to custard and it can be used in various dessert recipes. Firm tofu has lower moisture than soft one, and as it can retain its shape, it is usually used as a staple in most tofu food recipes. Dried tofu has the lowest moisture content and is just like cooked meat. This tofu is mostly used as crumbled, sliced, or shaped as noodles. Tofu food can be frozen or pureed, so that it can be used anytime and in any form as required.

But the adaptability of tofu food can be found in its flavor or rather its absence. Actually, tofu contains barely any natural flavor of its own. Rather it soaks the flavor of the other ingredients in the dish. It can be used in soups, as a filling or stuffing. Raw, stewed, fried, or grilled, tofu food can be used in various cuisines.

However, the health benefits of tofu food should not be overlooked. Low calories, high protein content and absence of cholesterol has made tofu effective in lowering the risk of heart disease.
