Tummy Tuck Procedure
By using plastic surgery it is possible to correct any disfigured part of your body. Tummy Tuck Procedure restructures the lower abdomen which has been marred by excess fat and skin. This is usually experienced by women who have just given birth and men who have undergone a gastric bypass surgery. The Tummy tuck procedure or abdominoplasty is of various types but all the forms come under either of the two main categories:
*
Standard Tummy Tuck Procedure:
Total abdominoplasty performed on lower and middle abdominal muscles.
*
Mini Tummy Tuck Procedure:
Partial abdominoplasty done only on the lower abdominal muscles.
Total tummy tuck gives your lower abdomen its original shape by stripping it of the excess fat and skin that has gathered around the lower abs, tightens the middle and lower abs and moves the navel back to its original place.
Mini tummy tuck procedure is a smaller and simpler surgery. It removes only a small amount of fat and skin, besides tightening of the lower abdomen.
These surgeries are usually performed under general or local anesthesia. The doses of either epinephrine or adrenaline are given before the surgery to narrow the blood vessels and avoid excess bleeding along with Valium for relaxation. Sometimes an analgesic is also given to help the patient in relaxing further.
The Tummy Tuck Procedure method:
*
Once the patient is sedated, the surgeon makes a long cut from a hipbone going on to the other and separating the navel from the connective tissues.
*
A second cut is made to remove the navel from the tissues.
*
Skin cover is lifted upwards to expose the abdominal muscles.
*
These muscles are stitched together to tighten them.
*
The skin is pulled down and the additional skin is removed.
*
A new hole to place the belly button is made and sewed in its position.
*
The incisions are stitched and an elastic dressing is applied for support.
*
At times, a temporary tube may be inserted for flushing out the excess fluid.
Since the Tummy Tuck Procedure is also a surgery, it carries the same amount of risks as any other surgery. Hence this surgery should be done by qualified surgeons only.
