What is TiVo

Ever wondered if you can turn back time? Or be at two places at the same time? I’m not talking about any science fiction movie, rather something which is quite a reality since many years. Direct TV HD TiVo is the new age concept which was launched in California first and henceforth has changed the way Television is watched for many.

So what is TiVo about? TiVo receives the signal through a telephone line and an antenna. Of late, satellite cable companies have begun to provide similar services to many more people in all parts of the world. Since the signal is digital, the clarity is much more enhanced than the previous form. Not only that, TiVo revolutionized TV viewing by providing hard disks along with the connection which could record any program you like while you were watching another program. Not just that, you could even skip commercials during a live television show. If you thought that wasn’t enough, here’s more. TiVo provides the luxury of opting for a 500 GB hard disk which translates into 900 hours of recorded TV programs which you can view whenever you desire. And later on, you can even transfer this to your computer.

With TiVo, you have few options in regards to the Hard Disk capacity. The maximum capacity, as I’ve already mentioned, is 500 GB which can record 900 hours of TV with amazing clarity. There are few other lower capacity hard disks which can record about 70 to 150 hours of TV.

Having said that, it is taken for granted, that the price of the respective packages varies according to the hard disk capacities. One last bit of advice is that don’t just blindly pick up the 500 GB hard disk because it sounds cool to be able to record 900 hours of TV. Think if you’ll ever record so much and if not, settle for something which is more price effective. Also, look around for other service providers also, as they would have priced their service competitively as well.
